Denise McGaha of Denise McGaha Interiors, transforms her bathroom while her husband promises to not to peek during the process – and is rewarded with the home spa of his dreams.
Denise McGaha Interiors, based in Dallas, Texas, provides luxury interior design services – and prides themselves on completing their projects within a trademarked 90 days. Because of Denise and husband Scott’s super busy lifestyles, they’d suffered with an ugly, outdated bathroom for more than 20 years. It took a broken pipe for them to recognize that a remodel was long overdue.
But when she embarked on the project, Denise made Scott promise to stay out. He bathed in the home’s guest quarters and – despite some serious inconvenience – didn’t even peek once. He put complete trust in the skills and talents of his designer wife – and the completed home spa far exceeded his expectations!
Denise made the space both colorful and sophisticated through an inviting black, white, and pink palette. She added texture and pattern through evocative artwork on the walls. Storage was vastly improved with deep drawers in the new vanities, while lighting was strategically placed over the sink, bright enough for shaving and make-up. Dimmer switches were provided to lower the light levels when the couple wanted a softer glow to luxuriate in some of the special amenities Denise installed.
When Denise staged the bathroom reveal for Scott, the centerpiece of her surprise was the MrSteam steam shower, complete with the patent-pending Linear Steamhead, Music Therapy in-shower speakers and sound system, and aromatherapy to help combat Scott’s recurrent allergies and provide soothing lavender for them both to decompress after a busy day at work. Their old shower had always been chilly, so Scott used to turn on the water to heat the shower stall before entering. Now he can use the SteamLinx application on his mobile phone to dial up steam before he even enters the bathroom.
The couple is in love with their long-overdue renovated bathroom. As Denise concludes, their new bathroom is “a space where Scott and I can retreat from the world, relax, rejuvenate and find peace in our hectic lives.”
